Programs shall staff infant and toddler programs with at least one associate or lead teacher per group.
The complainant reported that they observed six infants with one staff in the Infant classroom on June 3, 2026. The licensing coordinator’s review of daily child and staff attendance records for the Infant classroom, for June 1, 2026 through June 3, 2026, revealed that on June 1, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:23 a.m., one staff was present with up to 6 children, with an average age of 8 months; on June 3, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:26 a.m., one staff was present with up to 6 children, with an average age of 8 months and from 11:10 a.m. to 12:06 p.m., one staff was present with 5 children, with an average age of 7 months. This average age and number of children requires a ratio of one staff per four children. Corrective action: Staff were reminded of the importance of maintaining proper child-to-staff ratios at all times. Brightwheel has been updated with the correct ratios, and alerts have been turned on to help notify staff when a classroom is approaching or out of ratio. As the Center Director, I will continue to monitor ratios throughout the day by checking classrooms, reviewing attendance and staffing in Brightwheel, and making adjustments as needed to ensure we remain in compliance. Staff have been instructed to notify me immediately if they have any concerns regarding ratios so that I can provide support and address the issue right away. Moving forward, I will continue to complete regular classroom checks to ensure all classrooms remain in ratio and in compliance with licensing requirements.
