Our commitment
KinderFax publishes public records, and public records sometimes contain errors, become outdated, or get attached to the wrong entity. We are committed to correcting genuine inaccuracies quickly and to always reflecting the current official record — including when a facility's situation improves.
What we will do
- We correct factual errors. If information on KinderFax does not match the official state record — whether due to the wrong facility, a misspelled name, an incorrect address, or a data-processing error on our end — we will fix it.
- We reflect resolutions and reinstatements. Our records are meant to mirror the current state record. When a state shows that a violation has been remedied, a license has been reinstated, an enforcement action has been lifted, or a complaint was found unsubstantiated, those updates appear on KinderFax as we sync with the source. If our copy is lagging behind the state's, tell us, and we will prioritize re-syncing that facility.
- We show context.Facility owners can respond to their record (see below), and when the state record includes a resolution, correction, or the facility's own reported remediation, we display it alongside the original finding rather than hiding either.
What we generally will not do
- We do not remove or alter accurate records of official government findings. KinderFax is a faithful mirror of public licensing records. If a violation, complaint, or enforcement action genuinely appears in the state's record, removing it from KinderFax would defeat the purpose of the service and would misrepresent the public record. Our role is to keep our copy accurate and up to date, not to delete history that the state itself still publishes.
- We do not adjudicate disputes between a facility and its regulator. If you believe the state's underlying record is itself wrong, the correction has to happen at the source — with the agency that created the record. We will gladly update KinderFax to match once the official record changes, and we can point you to the right agency contact.
How to submit a correction
Use the “Correct this listing” link on any facility page, or email corrections@kinderfax.com. To help us act quickly, please include:
- The facility name and its KinderFax page URL
- The specific field or record you believe is wrong
- What the correct information is
- Any supporting evidence (a link to the current state record, an official document, etc.)
- Your name and your relationship to the facility (parent, owner, staff, agency, other)
What happens next
- Acknowledgment: We confirm receipt of every submission, typically within 2 business days.
- Review: We compare the disputed record against the official state source.
- Resolution: If our copy is incorrect or out of date, we correct or re-sync it and let you know. If the record accurately reflects the current state source, we explain that and, where relevant, direct you to the agency that maintains the underlying record.
- Facility response option:A facility may submit a short, factual response or context statement, which — subject to our content standards — we may display on the facility page, clearly labeled as the facility's own statement.
Facility owners
If you operate a facility listed on KinderFax, you can claim your facility to respond to records, add current information for families, and be notified of updates. Claiming a facility does not let you alter or remove official state findings; it lets you add your voice alongside the public record. See Claim your facility.
