Any contaminated, expired, or discontinued medication, whether prescription or over-the-counter, and topical substances shall be returned to the child’s parents or guardians whenever possible or, if belonging to the program, disposed of properly by authorized staff.
The licensing coordinator observed one expired inhaler in the Daffodil classroom. Corrective action: Our corrective action plan is to implement a medication tracking system through our office calendar. This will include setting recurring reminders for upcoming medication expiration dates to ensure all medications are reviewed and replaced before expiration. Staff responsible for medication logs will receive notification alerts as part of this new system to maintain compliance moving forward.
