In order to assure that staff and children are familiar with all of the EOP drills, programs shall: (1) Practice evacuation off-site and bomb threats once per year with all child care staff; (2) Practice at least 2 other components of their EOP with all child care staff and children each calendar year; and (3) Review all EOP response actions with all staff at least 4 times each calendar year.
The licensing coordinator's review of Emergency Operations Plan drills, as well as, a statement from the provider revealed that the program did not practice evacuation off-site and bomb threats in 2023 with all child care staff. Corrective action: All staff have reviewed and familiarized themselves with rule 4002.17 (f) and (g) and together made a calendar to ensure that the program meets this requirement at all times. Staff will conduct one of the two components of the EOP with the children in April and the second component in October. In addition, staff will conduct an off site evacuation drill in February and a bomb threat drill in August as well as reviewing all EOP response actions during the months of January, April, July, and October. The program will update this calendar annually and make changes as necessary to ensure compliance in the future.
