Child care staff shall: (1) Teach children the importance of hand washing with liquid soap and running water; and (2) Instruct, encourage, remind, or assist infants and children as needed throughout each day to wash their hands as necessary to comply with (a)(1) through (5) above.

The licensing coordinator observed staff in the Infant/Toddler classroom didn’t instruct and assist the children with washing their hands when they returned inside from playing outdoors or prior to them eating lunch. Corrective action: We discussed with staff the importance of washing hands and when we are supposed to be washing hands throughout the day. All staff members stated they are fully aware and will make sure to wash hands at correct times throughout the day.
