Name of Operation: KIDDIE ACADEMY OF MORRISVILLE Facility ID: 92003264 Consultant: AMBER TELFAIR Operation Type: Center Case Number: 0624-114A Visit Date: 6/17/2024 Number Present: 113 Completed Date: 6/17/2024 Age: From 0 To 5 Total Minutes: 140 Time In: 10:00 AM Time Out: 12:20 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Complaint Visit Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of this unannounced visit was to investigate allegations of violations of child care requirements at this child care facility. Erin Desmarais, Director, accompanied me during a walk-through of the facility. During the visit, I discussed the allegations with Ms. Desmarais and additional staff members. Limited monitoring of child care requirements occurred during today’s visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 860 Balloons were accessible to children. On June 3, 2024, staff members allowed a group of two-year-old children to play with a balloon. .0604(q) 904 Child was handled roughly. On June 3 and June 4, 2024, a staff member in a classroom for two-year-old children, yelled at and improperly handled multiple children. The staff repeatedly and forcefully patted a child on the back, resulting in bruising to the child's back. .1803(a)(1) 1756 Enhanced staff/child ratios and group sizes were not met. On June 4, 2024, twenty-one children were present in the classroom for two-year-old children. 10A NCAC 09 .2818 1810 There was a substantiation of child maltreatment. On October 22, 2024, the Division substantiated child maltreatment regarding incidents in which a staff member failed to meet the physical needs of children and left bruises on a child’s back when the staff member handled the child roughly.
