The educator turned on the space heater in the basement today for a few minutes during the visit. The space heater was behind a gate and not accessible to the children and she turned it off at the licensor’s request

The licensor observed a drill and air freshener in the bathroom. The educator removed them right away

The licensor observed Simple Green Bio dog cleaner accessible to children on the sink counter in the bathroom

The licensor observed a large bag of trash hanging on the door of the 2nd exit. This makes the exit not clear, free from obstructions
The licensor observed that the diaper table had 1 surface that can be disinfected and the second surface had a cover on it preventing it from being disinfected. The Educator was cited for this in December 2022

Smoke detector/Carbon monoxide
Although the Educator had a smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector in the basement space it was not installed. The educator did install one on the first floor level.
The exit from the basement was not clear of obstructions and the door was not able to be opened all the way due to obstructions
Although the (REDACTED) was awake the licensor observed 2 blankets, a small pillow and a bottle in the crib. the educator stated she uses one of the blankets as a sheet and drapes a blanket on the side of the crib.

There was no working smoke detector on the first floor or the basement. The Educator did find 2 smoke detectors during the visit but they were not installed

On the day of the visit there were 5 children present: 2y, 2y, 16m, 10m and 12m. The educator started an infant in July which made her have 3 under the age of 2 and none of them were 15 months and walking until October
The first aid kit did not contain the emergency cards
In the kitchen there was a drawer that was not locked and a hammer and pliers were accessible. One drawer was not locked and the aluminum foil and parchment paper with serrated edges were accessible

The educator did not have evacuation logs. She has not been documenting practice evacuation drills
During today’s visit there were 4 children under 2 present, including the educator’s son. A review of the attendance records show that since at least March there have been anywhere between 4-6 children under the age of 2 present with only the Educator. The educator was cited for this in December 2022
Discussed that the kitchen is the only room licensed to use upstairs and when the children went upstairs to get ready to go outside some of them were in rooms that were not licensed.
The licensor did not observe evidence of curriculum, or structure today. When the licensor arrived the children were waking up from nap and were observed in free play. The Educator cleaned up the toys and then did not put out additional activities for the children to engage in. The licensor observed the children to be getting fussy and suggested that the educator continue with her daily schedule and bring the children outside.
The educator did not wash her hands or the child’s hands after diapering today. Additionally the children did not wash their hands before snack

The educator stated that she goes upstairs daily to finish preparing lunch while the children are napping
There was no working carbon monoxide detector on the first floor or basement today
The educator installed a new swingset in August. The swing set does not have the required 9in of ground surface covering and 6ft clearance around it that is required
The licensor observed 2 tall heat lamps in the backyard that were a tipping hazard, there was also a bin with extension cords accessible to the children in the back yard
In the kitchen there are 2 drawers that are not locked that contain hazards including a lighter, sharp knives and aluminum foil. In the bathroom there was hand sanitizer and a plug in accessible
The (REDACTED) was sitting on the floor feeding himself a bottle
The diaper table has blankets and a cover that cannot be disinfected after every use
