The Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) received a complaint regarding improper discipline. An investigation was conducted on November 25, 2024. This complaint is substantiated for improper discipline because video footage shows a staff member using a hand-over-hand method to show the child how to clean up his mess on the floor, however, the handling of the child appeared rough. Administrator #1 used the video footage as a teaching tool and provided additional support to the staff.

Disposition: Substantiated

On February 28, 2024, a self-report was called into the Child Abuse and Neglect Report Line and accepted for investigation by the Institutional Abuse Unit (IA). It was also sent to the Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) and accepted for investigation regarding improper discipline. An investigation was conducted on March 6, 2024. On June 25, 2024, Institutional Abuse Investigator stated the case will be closed as unsubstantiated with concern for improper handling of a child resulting in injury. This self-reported complaint is substantiated by OCCL for improper discipline because video footage shows two staff members pulling on a child s arm and roughly handling them to get them to comply. The two staff members involved were put on leave and then their employment was terminated by the center.
