A staff member in the Toddler - (12 - 24 mo.), 18 mo. - 35 mo. class room(s) did not wash their hands after changing a diaper. Evidence by: Educator did not change gloves after each diaper change and did not wash their hands after each diaper change. Immediate: The director will revisit/retrain the diaper changing policy with the staff. Preventative/Monitoring: The director will monitor the diaper changing practices in the classroom throughout the day during check-ins and or as needed. Head counts are done hourly. The director will also review cameras to ensure diaper changes are done correctly.

The fixtures are not in good repair as evidenced by the hot water does not have good water pressure. Immediate: The director will talk with maintenance about checking the water pressure. Preventative/Monitoring: Educators do classroom checks weekly if not daily and notify the director or maintenance depending on the issue. If it is minor, the educators put in their own maintenance request.

During the inspection, it was observed that the educator(s) in the Preschool class room(s) was/were not calm when a stressful situation occurred when a child was observed taking a marker away from another child. In response to this non-compliance citation, YDI Head Start will retrain all staff at our in-service training scheduled for November 25, 2024.
