Any contaminated, expired, or discontinued medication, whether prescription or over-the-counter, and topical substances shall be returned to the child’s parents or, if belonging to the program, disposed of properly by authorized staff.
The licensing coordinator's review of program medications revealed that one Epi-Pen had expired in September 2023 and was not returned to the child's parent or guardian as required. Corrective action: We have received up to date Epi Pens for both children to replace the outdated ones. Going forward we will be doing monthly check ins with medication that aligns with our Fire Drills. A note as well, has been added to our allergy notifications and action plans for each child.
