Several children's emergency forms are missing their health care provider's information. One child is missing an authorized daily pick up person and two children are missing an emergency contact on their forms. Please obtain from parents and add to children's files. Please send copies to Licensing Specialist.
During the inspection today, the Licensing Specialist observed some chipping paint on the classroom door and around the vent above the door. Since the building was built prior to 1978 and is not certified lead free, the center will have to have a lead test completed. LS will send a link to the Maryland Department of the Environment, which has a list of approved lead testing companies. Once the results are received, please send a copy to the Licensing Specialist.

The Director completed the 2023 BHS update late. No correction needed. Center is reminded both teachers should complete the new 2024 BHS update no later than December 31, 2024.

Licensing Specialist observed Auvi-Q injectables in a child's bookbag during inspection today. This injectable was not in the original pharmacy labeled box. COMAR regulations require that all prescription medication be labeled by the pharmacy or physician. Center should return this item to the parent and, if parent returns it to center, the item should be in the original, labeled pharmacy box. Please send written plan of correction or photo to Licensing Specialist. *Medication was returned to parent at pick up time. This has been corrected.
Licensing Specialist observed a bottle of Benedryl in a child's book bag during inspection today that was not labeled with the child's name. The parent sends this with an Auvi-Q injectable with the child to the program every day and takes it home every day. Center will return this to the parent and, if parent returns it to the center, parent should label the bottle with the child's name and it should be kept in an inaccessible area in the classroom. *Medication was returned to parent at pick up time. This has been corrected.
Licensing Specialist observed a zipper bag with Benedryl and Auvi-Q injectables, inside a child's book bag, during the inspection today. The bookbag was hanging in a cubby, which was accessible to children in the classroom. Center is reminded that all medication and other potentially hazardous items are to be kept inaccessible to children at all times. Please send a written plan of correction to Licensing Specialist. *Medications were returned to parent at pick up time. This has been corrected.
Licensing Specialist did not observe any cumulative records in the 3 year old children's files that were reviewed today. All children enrolled must have a cumulative record in their files, which includes all items under COMAR 13A.16.16.08B. Staff should complete cumulative records for all children who do not have one in their file and update, if needed, the records for children who do have them on file.
