Evacuation Logs
Supervision of Infants and Toddlers
Ratios
When licensor first arrived, the Educator was observed to be alone with 5 children. Four of the children were infants and one child was a young toddler. The Educator called the approved assistant to come back to the house. EEC Licensor explained the Educator was still out of ratio as four of the children present were infants.
The Educator left the home when EEC Licensor drove up in front of the house to come over to Licensor’s vehicle. The Educator left 5 children alone in the home when she did this. Four of the children were infants and one was a very young toddler. The Educator engaged in an activity that diverted her attention from supervising the children; the Educator was also not aware of the children’s activities during this time. EEC Licensor went in the house with the Educator; two infants were observed sitting in exersaucer-type devices in the living room. Three children, ages 11 months, 14 months, and 15 months, were observed in the daycare room. These three children were moving freely around the room. Upon entry to the home, the Educator began cleaning the living room. This also diverted her attention from being able to appropriately supervise the three children in the daycare room.
The Educator has not completed any evacuation drills since reopening her program in April.
The attendance records have not been completed for many weeks.
The Educator did not place two infants and one toddler in a safe location when these children were not in her direct visual supervision.
There were pens/pencils and a stapler on the floor in the living room accessible to the children. One infant was observed sitting on the floor approximately 3 feet from these hazards.
