Upon a walk through of the playground, the following was identified: -There is a large pirate ship structure without any labels indicating the safety and appropriate age to use the equipment. -The structure has an inclined ramp with rope "railings" for children to hold while climbing up the ramp. There is no visible safety feature preventing a child from falling while walking up the ramp. -The top of the slide does not have perimeter safety siding such as an integrated hood design or inside handlebars to help stabilize and protect a child from potentially falling. -There are multiple sharp staples/nails protruding on the structure itself that are in need of repair/replacement. -The structure has an underneath section for children, however this area is not easily supervised as there are only a few small openings for educators to see inside. Currently, the program has this area blocked off so children are not using this area. It is recommended that the program determine if the structure is able to be repaired/removed or replaced to ensure safety for all children.
