Handwashing
Educator did not have 30 hours of professional development certificates available for review. 10 hours of training are required per year so 30 hours are due for this licensing cycle. At least one third of the required professional development must address diverse learners.
First aid certification was renewed on 2/27/24. Educator did not have a CPR card/certificate available for review. Educator must email the licensor a copy of her current card as soon as possible as proof of compliance.
One plastic climbing structure over 18 inches was observed in the outdoor play space without the required fall zone material underneath and around the structure. Fall zones must be installed or climber removed from the space.
A firearms statement was missing from the parent handbook and contract. Parents must be informed in writing of the presence of firearms in the home.

Space (indoor / outdoor hazards) - R Apr 2025
Due to the various outdoor home improvement projects happening, the fenced in backyard play area is currently not being used. Educator is using a grassy side yard next to the driveway that is not fenced in. Observed many hazards in this area: *Close proximity to the driveway and busy road. * Elevated play area with a stone drop off wall surrounding the area *Six stone steps leading to the play area with no railing. *Proximity to a drop off area by the front entrance. Educator must create a fenced in play space for the children due to these hazards. Discussed the play area being at least 75 square feet per child (450 square feet for 6 children) and at least 4 feet in height. Fence must be sturdy and permanent with a gate that can be closed. The licensor will conduct a follow up visit to the home to inspect the area when the fence is installed.
Space (indoor / outdoor hazards) - R Apr 2025
In ground swimming pool is surrounded by a chain link fence. The educator does not use the pool with the child care children. Observed one of the pool gates with the padlock not on. Padlock was hanging on the fence. Grill in the yard was not covered. Ladder was observed to be up and leaning against the side of the home. Double doors on a shed/outbuilding were open and hazards such as tools, spray paint and lawn equipment were accessible. On the deck around the corner from where the children play various tools and power equipment with cords were observed to be accessible. Due to the various outdoor home improvement projects happening, the idea of creating a fenced in play space for the children was discussed with the educator.

The educator has two first aid kits- a large metal box for indoors and a smaller backpack for outdoors. The emergency card pages for the children are over a year old. Discussed parents re-signing and re-dating the bottom of the pages if none of the information has changed, otherwise, they must fill in a new form.
Liquid soap is accessible in the bathroom for handwashing. No paper towels or disposable cloths were available for drying hands. Observed a common towel on a rack by the sink. Children must never share a common towel.

Observed a four-year-old child go up the spiral staircase by herself to use the bathroom while the educator stayed on the lower level with the five other children. The educator must stay on the same floor level with all of the enrolled children at all times. The only exception is children over the age of 7 years of age with written parental permission.
Electric panel (with plugs) is accessible in the daycare room. Discussed covering the panel. Cord hanging from the ceiling in the daycare room.
Spiral staircase to the first floor does not have a gate at the bottom or at the top.Gate missing from the top of the stairs on the exit route to go outside. Door at the bottom. Both gates needed for the top of the sets of stairs must be permanent attached gates.Educator must email licensor photos of the gates in place.
Water temperature was 126 degrees. Hot water should not exceed 120 degrees.
Exits are clear of obstructions. Exit signs are not posted.
Old rusty metal heater in the middle of the yard is a hazard.
Gate needed for the bottom of the stone stairs leading to the pool as an extra precaution. Pool will not be used with the daycare children. Pool is surrounded by a metal fence. Several metal pool gates must be locked to prevent children access to the pool. Educator must email licensor photos of the locked pool gates and gate in place at the bottom of the stairs to the pool area.
