On August 13, 2024, the Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) received a complaint regarding mold in the building, fans accessible to children, cleanliness concerns, temperature of the facility, and lack of respectful communication by staff. An investigation was conducted on August 16, 2024. Based on observations and interviews with staff, this complaint is substantiated for lack of respectful communication because the administrator and another staff member both stated staff had used unprofessional tones. Based on observations, this complaint is substantiated for cleanliness concerns because although the classrooms were clean and organized, the ceiling tiles, light covers, and vents need to be cleaned or replaced. Based on observations, there is no evidence to substantiate this complaint for mold in the building because no mold was visible at the time of the visit. Based on observations and interviews with staff, there is no evidence to substantiate this complaint for fans being accessible to children because the observed fans were either turned off or out of reach of children and all staff stated fans were turned on only after the children left for the day. Based on interviews with staff, there is no evidence to substantiate this complaint for temperature of the facility because staff stated the rooms never went above 82 degrees.
