The outdoor play area shall be free of dumpsters, uncovered trash cans, highly flammable materials, standing pools of water and other hazards. Staff shall inspect the outdoor play area before children begin to play to make sure there are no hazards present such as, but not limited to, animal feces, litter, adult tools, or other items that might injure a child.
This licensor observed duck and chicken droppings in multiple locations within the outdoor space used by the children. The Director stated droppings are not removed from the ground in the duck pen before staff and children enter the space. Droppings were also seen on the concrete walkway entering the building, some droppings were flattened and appeared to have been stepped on. Some of the droppings appeared fresh while others looked dried up or flattened to the ground. The Director stated they were not aware that the droppings should be picked up each day before children utilize the outdoor space.
