Each child 12 months of age and younger shall be placed on their back to sleep in an individual crib or play pen.
The complainant reported that a five-month-old child was sleeping on their stomach and had not yet shown the ability to roll from their back to their stomach their own. Staff A stated that the child had been placed on their side to assist them in falling asleep, but that the child was left in that position without being placed on their back after falling asleep. Additional staff statements that staff have placed infants under the age of 12 months on their stomachs to sleep because they routinely roll over onto their stomachs on their own during nap. Corrective action: All staff were spoken to immediately regarding safe sleep practices and were told that regardless of the ability to roll, children must be placed on their back to sleep. All staff were also expected to retake the prosolutions SIDS course regardless of when they last took the course and pass the certificate back in no later than 9/15/2025. Supervisors will be routinely monitoring nap time and how staff are placing children down for nap. Staff were also made aware that if they were to not follow safe sleep practices, that they would be removed from their teaching position.
