At the time of the visit, children were observed on one side of the classroom watching a yoga video, while three educators were on the opposite side of the classroom. The educators were engaged in conversation and using their cell phones, and were not appropriately engaging with or supervising the children. Educators must ensure that active supervision is maintained at all times. This includes being attentive, positioned to observe all children, and actively engaged to ensure children’s safety and well-being. Personal cell phone use during supervision is not appropriate and should not interfere with the educators’ ability to effectively supervise and interact with children.
