At the time of the visit, children were observed using the climbing structure outdoors. The Educator in charge was asked to not allow the children to use the climbing equipment as the impact absorbing material (playground mulch) is frozen and does not provide protection as intended when the ground is frozen.

Ranch Dressing in the refrigerator that an Educator reported is used with vegetables as part of children's snack had a past recommended use date (July 2019).
The refrigerator in the Willow classroom was missing a thermometer.

At the time of the visit, the Licensing Specialist observed the following: 1) An Educator diapering a child on an elevated surface. This Educator did not always keep one hand on the child while diapering them. This same non-compliance was also observed in the past during a visit in February of 2019. 2)The two step cleaning process was not followed when an Educator was observed cleaning/disinfecting the changing table. The Educator disinfected the changing table only, and did not clean it first with soap and water.

Through a review of three staff files the following was noted: 1) Two staff files did not have evidence of documentation of the interview date 2) Three staff files did not have current professional qualifications certifications 3) One file did not have evidence of [REDACTED]. 4) One staff filed did not have evidence of an orientation for a staff member who was currently working in the program 5) There was not evidence in two staff files that bi-monthly observations were being completed consistently.
The Licensing Specialist was informed that two staff members were assigned as the Educators in Charge as the Administrator was not on site during the visit. One of the two identified staff members was qualified. This qualified staff member left the building in the afternoon to accompany children to an off site wellness event, leaving the other staff member who does not have EEC qualifications in charge of the program.
Through a review of three children's records the following was noted: 1) One child's [REDACTED] was not current.
Two opened packages of crackers in the toddler classroom cabinet which staff reported are intended for use by children int he program were not being stored in a sealed or closed container.
Educators reported that children who are in care for more than 4 hours or eat a meal in care, are not being offered an opportunity to brush their teeth while in care.
