During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed diaper creme without parent authorization, Provider advised that she is not using the diaper cream at this time and discarded it. Provider advised that when she needs to dispense diaper cream, she will get parent authorization and keep it on file. This standard was brought back into compliance during the time of inspection. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, section 7.24 Medication The family day care home or large family child care home is not required to give medication; however, if they choose to do so, the following shall apply: A. The operator must have written authorization from the custodial parent or legal guardian to dispense prescription and non-prescription medications. This authorization must be dated and signed by the custodial parent or legal guardian and must contain the childs name; the name of the medication to be dispensed; and the date, time and amount of dosage to be given. This record shall be initialed or signed by the child care personnel who gave the medication. Prescription and non-prescription medications that are used on an as needed basis require the parent/ legal guardian to provide additional documentation on the authorization form to describe symptoms that would require the medication to be given. The child care personnel must never administer a medication that is prescribed for one child to another child. L. Use of diaper creams and insect repellant may only be utilized with written permission from parents/guardians. Manufacturer instructions should be followed. M. Sunscreen, diaper cream, and insect repellant do not need to be documented on the medication log unless prescribed by a physician

During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed glass cleaner, air freshener, body sprays and lotions on a shelf located in the bathroom that the children use which was accessible to them. Provider removed the shelf along with the toxic substances out of bathroom and put it in an area that was no longer accessible to the children in care. This standard was brought back into compliance during the time of inspection. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, section 7.2 Toxic Substances, Hazardous Materials and Poisonous Items A. All areas and surfaces accessible to children shall be free from toxic substances and hazardous materials/equipment/tools, including power tools, plastic bags, matches, candles, lighters, etc. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, BB guns, pellet guns and other potentially dangerous hazards, shall either be stored and in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach
