On June 11, 2024, the Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) received a complaint regarding disrespectful communication, over capacity, insufficient staff, staff-to-child ratio, and improper discipline. An unannounced visit was conducted on June 28, 2024. This complaint is substantiated for incorrect staff-to-child ratio. A review of attendance records documented five days when only one staff member was present with eight or more children between the ages of two and five. There is no evidence to substantiate this complaint for disrespectful communication. This specialist interviewed staff members and the provider who all denied the provider had communicated disrespectfully to children or staff. There is no evidence to substantiate this complaint for improper discipline as staff members and the provider have not witnessed or had concerns for any improper discipline. There is no evidence to substantiate this complaint for over capacity or insufficient staff being hired to work in the large family child care home. Upon review of attendance and child files, the facility was not documented as being over capacity, and has the required number of staff to operate, although incorrect staff-to-child ratio was documented on attendance records during the week of June 10, 2024.
