CI 1.10:Supervision
• Children must never be left unsupervised. 1. in 2yr classChild and educator were going to go wash paint brushes, teacher turned around to see if she needed to take additional brushes from other children but child went ahead and left the classroom and went down the hall and around the corner out of sight and without supervising adult, educator turned around saw child had left her and quickly went on down the hall and LC heard her addressing safety with child briefly. Later in obersavation same child again was trying/wanting to leave room to go wash brush and educator reminded her she needed an adult and would have to wait on other educator to return so they could. 2. When the 2yr class left their room to go wash hands- roll call was not performed, the 2nd educator did not verbally communicate that the child who was assisting her down the hall was now returning to group.Educator did a callout of names without a reference list before leaving the restrooms to return to room. 2. in 3yr class while educator following 2yrs to handwashing a child walked out of the 3yr class and across the hallways to the restroom, the classroom door was half shut and the educator was not monitoring the child's wereabouts, LC opened the classroom door to see where educator was-she was in center of room behind one of the centers talking to other children and stating another child could go to restroom once the other returned. LC stood in hallway monitoring restroom/ unattended child, a moment later the 2nd educator came across and checked onthe child.
