In twos classrooms, educators were engaging in other activities unrelated to mealtime while children were eating. Proper supervision was not being given to the children during mealtime.

Summary of Complaint Visit The visit conducted today included monitoring of the agency's compliance with Licensing Rules and Regulations. Technical Assistance Provided: 1. LC recommends reaching out to TN voices to help with the children who are having a difficult time in the classroom. 2.LC will put in a referral to CCR&R for training regarding biting. LC recommends reminding all educators that they must observe each child upon arrival for any signs of illness or injury and must document their findings in some kind of way. Violations were received and include: 1.1240-04-01-.12 Health and Safety Correct Action Plan (CAP) completed. This is a new option that is available after 12/20/2022

Children were not allowed to participate in a quiet activity if not asleep within in a reasonable amount of time. 1240-04-01-.15 PROGRAM, LANGUAGE, AND LITERACY DEVELOPMENT Corrective Action: Director stated they would put another educator in the classroom after lunch and during naptime to help with difficult transition times. Agency also stated that children that do not choose to take a nap within a reasonable time will be given another activity to participate in. Example: Books, Sensory, Quiet Play, etc.

See Below for Detailed Information Observation: Two school age children unhooked the gate and walked out of the playground area without the knowledge of staff. 1240-04-01-.11 SUPERVISION Corrective Action: All staff will get supervision training via CCR&R. The training will be the evening of August 19, 2021. Observation: The educator did not do her walk arounds as stated in the agency’s playground supervision plan. The educator did not have a clear view of the playground as stated in the agency’s playground supervision plan. 1240-04-01-.11 SUPERVISION Corrective Action: All staff will get playground supervision training via CCR&R. The training will be the evening of August 19, 2021.

See Below for Detailed Information Observation: An educator was observed displaying improper discipline towards a child via camera footage. 1240-04-01-.15 Program, Language, and Literacy Development Corrective Action: The educator was written up and received counseling by administrative staff on 9-25-2020. All staff will receive training on developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques through CCR&R. Agency also trained all staff on 10-15-2020. Observation: Agency failed to report suspicion of child abuse and neglect as they felt it was improper discipline but not done intentionally. 1240-04-01-.10 Duty to Report Child Abuse and Neglect Corrective Action: In the future, agency will report all suspicion of child abuse and neglect even if they feel it is not intentional. Agency trained all staff on duty to report child abuse and neglect on October 15th.
