All center directors, agency administrators, site coordinators, or site directors, and all other child care staff who are responsible for the supervision of children, or who are necessary for the staff to child ratios, shall keep on file documentation of completion of a minimum of 6 hours of professional development, which shall be completed in accordance with the following: (1) Within 90 days of the first date of employment; (2) Within 2 weeks for programs operating 3 months of the year or less; or (3) By providing documentation of previous completion.
The licensing coordinator's review of five staff files revealed that one staff who became an assistant teacher in September 2024, had not completed any of the required health and safety trainings, when they are required to be completed within 90 days of the first date of employment in that role. Corrective action: After this oversight was brought to our attention, we discussed an immediate action plan with the staff member and links were sent to begin the corrective action process. Additionally, if needed, the staff will be working with the Admin team to create a profile and then begin the Health and Safety Trainings effective the week of 8/25/2025. We expect this action plan to be completed by 9/12/2025. To ensure future compliance, a visible, and easily accessed sheet with all staff trainings was created so Directors can quickly see who needs what and where each staff stands with regard to expiration of professional development hours, including Water Safety, First Aid, CPR, health forms and Prosolutions
