Except for nature-based programs that operate solely outside, programs shall conduct fire drills in accordance with the following: Programs that operate continuously throughout the year shall conduct at least one drill each month of operation.

The licensing coordinator's review of fire drill logs revealed that there was no fire drill completed in April 2026 when monthly fire drills are required. Corrective action: April simply got away from us. We had a few events/celebrations that we don't typically have and it just went by to fast. Since speaking with our licensing coordinator and learning that the classrooms can do fire drills individually, I have informed them of that and should a center wide fire drill not work during a particular month, they can perform them on their own with their classroom. I have also set another calendar reminder for fire drills!

Background record checks shall be completed in accordance with this section.

The licensing coordinator's review of program and department records revealed that one individual did not complete a background record check prior to expiration. The individual worked approximately 256 days following the expiration of their background record check. Corrective action: This individual did go for fingerprints upon expiration however her background check was never properly submitted through NHCIS. Since she had gone and we hadn't heard anything we assumed she was all set. Upon inspection and realizing they were not properly submitted, she was sent again and her background check was submitted on June 11. We will now make it a point to set a calendar reminder to check NHCIS 30 days after sending an employee for fingerprinting to make sure they are active and eligible.
