Child care staff shall supervise every child in care at all times.
The complainant stated that Child A was able to access the road through the woods surrounding the program and left school property without Staff A's knowledge. Staff A confirmed this incident, as shown in the video provided. Video footage indicated that Child A was without direct supervision for approximately six to seven minutes before being located by Staff A and returning to the school. Corrective action: In the program incident report completed on 3/26, Staff A directed restricting play to field and limiting access to the stated trail for the following two weeks until it was clear Child A could stay with the group. Staff A has conducted informal group emergency protocol practices with greater frequency in the two weeks immediately following the incident, as well as maintaining continual checking for understanding regarding expectations and boundaries. On 4/13, further restrictions to keep play areas to the playground, blacktop, and field were made by Staff A when concern about supervision was communicated to staff by the complainant. During the 4/14 site visit, by suggestion of licensing agent, orange cones will be put out to help aid as a visual boundary when using the trail in the woods by the road. Program staff will continue searching for a second staff member to assist Staff A in emergencies and potential supervision limitations.
