Any contaminated, expired, or discontinued medication, whether prescription or over-the-counter, and topical substances shall be returned to the child’s parents or guardians whenever possible or, if belonging to the program, disposed of properly by authorized staff.
REPEAT CITATION PREVIOUSLY CITED ON NOVEMBER 6, 2024 UNDER He-C 4002.21(u). The licensing coordinator observed one expired EpiPen in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom. This constitutes a repeat citation and failure to comply with one approved CAP regarding expired medication. Corrective action: Teacher returned expired EpiPen to parents on 11/4. Parents Brought in new unexpired EpiPen on 11/5. Teachers will check the expiration dates on all medication received and make note of expiration date on Medication List. If medication expires within the school year, the teacher will notify the parent when the expiration date is nearing so they may bring in new unexpired medication. Director will double check expiration dates upon receiving medication and monitor the expiration date on the Medication list to remind teachers if medication is expiring soon.
