Blankets, sleeping bags, bedding, cots, and mats shall be stored in a manner that ensures that sleeping surfaces are not touching, or the items shall be washed and sanitized before re-use if stored in a way that sleeping surfaces are touching.

The licensing coordinator observed that children's bedding was stored together in either a wooden storage box or in cubbies, in such a manner that the bedding materials were touching. Corrective action: We just hired Closet Factory to come and install individual cubbies for each of our rest mats in every classroom, so they are separate from one another. Until then they are currently placed in a seperate cubby or a clean individual bag if a cubby is being shared with more than one rest mat.

In addition to the training required in (b) above, child care staff shall: Complete training on medication administration prior to administering medication to children.

A statement by the center director indicated that medication training was thought to be a one-time requirement, which did not require renewal. The center director further stated that they did not believe that any staff members at the center had up-to-date training in this area. No documentation verifying staff completion of medication administration training was provided. Additionally, this training is required as there are two children enrolled in the program who require Epi-Pens. Corrective action: We have created a spreadsheet for new hires and current hires with expiration dates of what is needed for each employee by the state; their renewal background check if they aren’t 18 years old when hired, their total PD hours up to date and what dates of required trainings they have completed. This way we are assured we know and have confirmation that every employee at Gage Farm Schoolhouse is in compliance and eligible to work here at Gage Farm Schoolhouse. We also now have a visual reminder of when we need to update paperwork or complete required trainings. Also, Sarah Stone Director completed the Medication Training and Assistant Director Michael O'Keefe and Lead Teacher Christina Gustafson will complete it by tomorrow Nov 5, 2025.
