This center currently operates with a Five-Star license issued 4/24/18. As of 4/7/26, the facilities compliance score was one hundred (100) percent. A sanitation inspection was conducted on 12/9/25. This facility received a Superior classification and 4 demerits. This facility’s corporation status was verified current and active on the NC Department of the Secretary of State on 4/7/26. According to the Clean Classroom site, lead in water was up to date as of 10/25/23 and the facility is exempt for lead-based paint and asbestos testing. There are staff linked to this facility through the ABCMS system. The last fire inspection was completed on 3/27/25. I was greeted by Pam Conwell, Assistant Director. Ms. Conwell accompanied me on a walk-through of the center and the playgrounds. I monitored staff/ child ratios and supervision as I walked throughout the facility and found both in compliance. Children were participating in group activities, playing outside, and playing in centers. The staff/child interactions I observed were warm and caring. Outside I observed, there is plenty of room to run, jump and other vigorous play. They have a variety of materials and equipment available to children. Devin Walton, Administrator, provided me with the paperwork needed for the visit. Monthly fire drills and playground inspections were reviewed as well as quarterly disaster drills. The last fire drill was 3/2/26. The last disaster drill (shelter in place) was 2/10/26. The last playground inspection was January 2026. I reviewed staff files for two new employees. There were two violations cited during today's visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. The last fire inspection was completed 3/27/25. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) 859 Monthly playground inspections were not completed and/or they were not completed by an individual trained in playground safety requirements. The last playground inspection was completed January 2026. .0605(q) Child care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five (75) percent. Any violations documented may impact the compliance history score. To maintain compliance with North Carolina child care laws and rules, the above violations must be corrected immediately. Please send me a correction letter by email stating how the violations were corrected. It must be submitted to me by 4/22/26 and include the following information in your correction letter: 1. Facility Name 2. Facility ID 3. Date of the letter 4. The violation number, the date the violation was corrected, and information regarding how the violation was corrected. I provided technical assistance regarding: New Staff Training: For the two new staff members, they need to complete orientation in the first 6 weeks of employment, take the Recognizing and Responding to Child Maltreatment course within the first ninety days of employment and complete the health and safety trainings within the first year of employment. The Health and Safety trainings can be accessed through moodle on the NCDCDEE website. The facility plans to apply for QRIS using Pathway #1 by August 1, 2026. They have had mock rating scales conducted and are in the self-study phase.
