Fall zones adequate depth of impact absorbing material
Proper sanitizing techniques; Bottles labeled and out of children's reach
During the visit, plastic shopping bags and a pouch of diaper wipes were stored on a metal shelf in the Toddler bathroom and accessible to the children. In the Barn, a cabinet and three drawers contained electrical cords, cough drops, hand lotion and White Out. Locks must be installed on these cabinets and drawers to prevent the children from accessing these items.
Please ensure staff keep a minimum of a 6 foot fall zone around all sides of the Up & Down plastic Roller Coaster as required by EEC.
One thermos in the Preschool classroom and two thermoses in the Barn were not labeled with the child's name.
Health and Safety
One staff file was missing the following: Staff Form, verification of 2 references, Program Orientation Form and evidence of immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella.
Staff Records
During the visit, two bottles and one sippy cup were observed in the Infant Classroom refrigerator. The items were not labeled with the child's name they were intended for.
There must be a barrier installed next to the stairs leading to the upstairs Preschool Classroom to prevent the children from accessing the two air conditioning units, ladder, and gas grill.
In the Toddler 1 Classroom, an electrical outlet cover was not flush against the wall. A large piece of clear tape was placed over the outlet during the visit.
The following hazards were observed on the Bike Playground: There is a gap between the poured in place rubber and the railroad ties. The gap extends around the perimeter of the structure. The gap is lower than the rubber surfacing and presents a tripping hazard. There is unknown vegetation growing between the poured rubber and railroad ties. Six holes were observed in the poured in place rubber. Three wooden railroad ties are splintering. One railroad tie in front of the wooden stage has a nail protruding from it. One section of chain link fence has been pulled way from the top railing. In the Climbing Playground, There are many bolts on the chain link fence that need covers. The top railing of the chain link fence, closest to the parking lot was bent and not in good working order. In the fenced in field, the bottom of the access gate has a rusty metal piece and there is unknown vegetation growing along three parts of the fencing.
Evacuation procedures were not posted next to the front exit in the Preschool Classroom.
A double sink was observed in the Infant Classroom. One side is used for handwashing after diaper changes and the other sink is used for food preparation. There must be a barrier between the sinks or a way to prevent bacteria from coming in contact with the items in the food preparation sink.
