Inspection of facility, activities, records, staff On October 28, 2024, Child Care Licensing Worker (CCLW) conducted a drop-in visit to Stepping Stones Academy Infant and Toddler Center - Kaneohe, located at 45-1411 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744. The infant are cared for in the Infant Room (Daycare G). Toddler 1 and Toddler 2 Rooms are currently unoccupied, pending approval from the Department of Planning and Permitting.<br/> <br/> pre-visit: reviewed the service summary report, the staff background, health, and the employment history clearances, the staff first aid and child CPR training certifications, the certificate of liability insurance, the food establishment permit, the staff food handler safety training certifications, the fire inspection report, the initial nutrition review of the morning and the afternoon snacks., the health consultant letter.<br/> <br/> visit: CCLW conducted a walkthrough inspection of the infant and toddler center. One caregiver and two aides were caring for 6 infants. CCLW found that the supervision was adequate. The caregiver and two aides were caring for 6 infants. Eight cribs were set up in the Infant Room. There were 8 cribs which had certificates of compliances and two rocking chairs.<br/> <br/> CCLW inspected the door in the Infant Room (Daycare G), exiting directly outside the child care center.<br/> - the gate on the fencing remains unlocked during business hours as posted on the sign.<br/> <br/> CCLW inspected the new door to the Toddler 1 Room (Daycare B) which had panic hardware door installed on it.<br/> - the new door exists directly to the outside side driveway. CCLW reminded the staff that when exiting through the Toddler 1 door to take precautions to ensure the safety of the children due to cars coming up and exiting the driveway.<br/> - the nearby exit switch must be disabled for the new to the Toddler 1 Room to remain open, according to DPP compliance inspector XXXXX.<br/> <br/> CCLW inspected the new door to the Toddler 2 Room (Daycare F) which leads directly to ramp and to the stairs in the front of Stepping Stones Academy Kaneohe.<br/> - Toddler 2 Room has not been approved to open by the Department of Planning and Permitting.<br/> - DPP compliance inspector, informed Stepping Stone Academy Kaneohe director that the half-door leading from Daycare F to Daycare C is not a conforming exit leading to directly to the outside. Another exit must be installed in the Toddler 2 Room (DayCare F) to meet the building code requirement for two conforming exits.<br/> <br/> CCLW inspected the children's enrollment, emergency, health records.<br/> Children's health records:<br/> Child #1: PE missing, parent's signature on DHS 908 - PE corrected 11/6/2024; DHS 908 corrected 10/29/2024<br/> Child #2: PE missing - PE corrected 10/30/2024<br/> Child #3: parent's signature on DHS 908 - DHS 908 corrected 10/29/2024<br/> Child #6: parent's signature on DHS 908 - DHS 908 corrected 10/29/2024<br/> <br/> At the present time, the Infant Room (Daycare G) and Toddler 1 (Daycare B) are projected to be used for Stepping Stones Academy Infant/Toddler Kaneohe.<br/> <br/> Infant Room (Daycare G): 656 sq ft minus 67 sq ft for 10 cribs = 388 sq ft<br/> Toddler 1 Room (Daycare B): 333 sq ft<br/> Total Indoor Area sq ft: 721 sq ft<br/> <br/> 721 sq ft divided by 35 sq ft per child = 20 children<br/>

Two caregivers and two aides were caring for 7 infants. CCLW found that the supervision was adequate. Two caregivers and two aides were caring for seven infants. Eight cribs were set up in the Infant Room. There were 8 cribs which had certificates of compliances and two rocking chairs.<br/> <br/> Two rooms are projected to change their use from GCCC to ITCCC. Toddler 1 Room (Daycare B) and Junior Kindergarten Room (Daycare F) were classified for GCCC use only because they did not have a door leading directly to the outside. A door will be installed in the Toddler 1 Room. A door will be installed in the Junior Kindergarten Room. A request for an inspection will be mailed to the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Planning and Permitting and the Fire Prevention Bureau as soon as the architect's site plans is sent to CCLW showing the doors to be installed.<br/>

Inspection of facility, activities, records, staff On June 24, 2024 and July 30, 2024, Child Care Licensing Worker CCLW conducted the initial infant and toddler child care center licensing visit. On both visits, CCLW observed that no children were present at the center. A field visit must be scheduled to observe children are in care at the center to monitor the staffing and other aspects of the child care center. Any deficiencies cited during the visit shall be corrected by the end of the provisional period.<br/> <br/> For now, infants and toddlers will be cared for in the Infant room.<br/>
