When Licensing Specialist (LS) arrived, only the employee was present with the children. The operator was not on the premises. However, she came back a few minutes later and explained that she had just walked down the road. The Operator stated that she now understands that if she is over the capacity of a regular FDCH, she must stay on the premises with the children at ALL times, to prevent this from occurring in the future. Technical support was provided. 2.2 Licensed Capacity 2.2.1 Family Day Care Home A family day care home may provide care for one of the following groups of children, which shall include household children under 13 years of age: A. A maximum of four children from birth to 12 months of age. B. A maximum of three children from birth to 12 months of age, and other children, for a maximum total of six children. C. A maximum of six preschool children if all are older than 12 months of age. D. A blanket was in the bedding (pack-n-play) around the (seven months old) childs head. The Operator removed the blanket when asked to do so by this LS. Operator stated that she will not put a blanket in the bedding of a child under 1 y/os in the future. Technical support was provided. B. All personnel that care for infants must follow safe sleep practices as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as referenced in Caring for Our Children Basics Health and Safety Foundations for Early Care and Education, which is incorporated by reference in 65C-22.001(7)(v), F.A.C. The two 1 y/o's were napping on a furry mat when FSC arrived. Operator got the children up when FSC pointed out the mats did not have an impermeable surface. Operator does have cots for the children while napping that she will use in the future for the 1 y/o's napping also. Technical support provided. F. Sleep bedding includes beds, cribs, or mattresses. Nap bedding includes sleep bedding, cots, playpens, play yards or floor mats. Air and foam mattresses are prohibited.
