On April 11, 2025, the Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) received a complaint regarding transportation; specifically, the presence of mold and breaking down of the buses. An investigation began on April 16, 2025, and concluded on May 8, 2025. The center was made aware of the allegations prior to OCCL receiving the complaint. The center did their due diligence and had the buses cleaned and inspected. There is no evidence to substantiate this complaint because visible mold was not found on the buses and evidence shows bus #87 broke down due to a staff member s error.
Disposition: No Evidence to Substantiate
On March 4, 2024, the Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) received a complaint regarding mold in the facility. The investigation began on March 7, 2024, and ended on March 20, 2024. This complaint is substantiated because mold was found in the building and in licensed child care space.
Disposition: Substantiated
On January 10, 2023, a complaint was called into the Child Abuse and Neglect Report Line and accepted for investigation by the Institutional Abuse Unit (IAU). It was sent to the Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) and accepted for investigation on January 11, 2023, regarding improper discipline. On February 7, 2023, the IAU stated their investigation is closed as unsubstantiated for physical abuse with concern. Upon a review of video footage and staff interviews, no staff were observed harming a child. IAU s concern was staff had to hold Child #1 by his wrist to get him away from dangerous objects or to stop him from climbing and holding could lead to scratches, but generally cannot be avoided. OCCL attempted to contact Laurel Police Department several times to ensure their investigation was complete, but OCCL did not receive a response. After a review of IAU s investigation, there is no evidence to substantiate the allegation of improper discipline based on video footage and staff interviews.
