Operation of A Family Child Care Home (a) The licensee shall be present in the home and shall ensure that children in care are supervised at all times. When circumstances require the licensee to be temporarily absent from the home, the licensee shall arrange for a substitute adult to care for and supervise the children during his/her absence. Temporary absences shall not exceed 20 percent of the hours that the facility is providing care per day.
Deficient Practice Statement Based on observation and interviews, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above in Licensee disclosed to LPA that she became ill the evening of 08/07/2024. Licensee disclosed that she did not report her illness and did not close the facility today, 08/08/2024, because she did not want to inconvenience the parents. Licensee planned to have 3 Assistants present in her absence. Licensee disclosed to LPA that she will not be returning to her place of residence and will be staying at a relative’s home for the duration of the day, which exceeded the 20 percent temporary absence allowed which poses an immediate health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.
