251.06(4)(d) · Exits & Passageways - Unobstructed, Minimum Width

Rule states in pertinent part 'Exits and exit passageways shall be unobstructed by furniture or other objects'. On 5/1/25, a 'block' was observed on a sliding door, which is the exit from the classroom to the outside. The block has been utilized to prevent the door from being slid open by the children in the classroom. There's also a handle lock on the door. The extra locking device (block) creates an obstruction (and additional step) to opening the door in an emergency.
