110-300-0106(12) · Early learning providers who prepare or serve food to children at an early learning program must obtain a current food worker card prior to preparing or serving food. Food worker cards must: (a) Be obtained through the local health jurisdiction, in person or online; and (b) Be renewed prior to expiring.
One provider file reviewed had food handler's training but it was not through a local health jurisdiction. It may be possible other providers/staff have training through this same entity. All staff files were beginnning to be checked prior to my departure. The staff person who did not have the training completed it while I was present. One provider reports they have completed 20 hour Childcare Basics but there is no record of this in her staff file or in MERIT. Apparently, the information was lost when MERIT began. Verification that she has communicated with MERIT and that she had completed it is not in her file. Apparently, she has also begun to complete her ECE degree but this coursework, which would likely substitute for CCB, is not in her.
