On January 21, 2026, in the Threes classroom, there were two educators and 5 children ages 2 years 7 months to 4 years 11 months old present. At 2:57 pm, one educator stepped out into the hallway to hand something to a parent while the other educator stayed in the classroom with the children. At 2:58:23, the educator in the classroom stepped into the PreK classroom to go to the kitchen. Both educators were out of the classroom, leaving the children unsupervised. At 2:58:50, the first educator stepped back into the classroom and realized the second educator had stepped out. The children were left unsupervised for 27 seconds.
