Observation: There was a violation from the Assessor, on 9/10/19, during the assessment. During the assessment, the assessor observed two children were unattended while eating. One child was seated at the table by himself. The other child was seated at the table with several other children who had completed lunch. During this time, the primary educator was near the table reading a story to a group of children. The assistant educator #2 was monitoring children who wandering around the room, dumping plates and hand washing. The assistant educator #3 was diapering children. The focus was not on the children that were still eating. There were several instances observed where the child seated alone would stand and face the wall and put food in his mouth. I intervened when the child was observed trying to get something out of his mouth as he faced the wall (a small piece of potato chip). The child did not appear to be in distress. 1240-04-01-.11 SUPERVISION. POCA: Provider will retrain staff in mealtime supervision and will ensure that staff will not perform any other duties during mealtime.
