During the complaint investigation visit, LC Garner spoke with an educator who noted that that he put his hand on top of a child’s head and gently pressed down to redirect the child during an anger outburst. The staff member noted that he did this in an attempt to have the child to focus on him and to calm down. The staff noted he would go between gently pressing and patting on the child’s head. See Below for Detailed Information During the complaint investigation visit, LC Garner spoke with an educator who noted that that he put his hand on top of a child’s head and gently pressed down to redirect the child during an anger outburst. The staff member noted that he did this in an attempt to have the child to focus on him and to calm down. The staff noted he would go between gently pressing and patting on the child’s head. This was cited as a violation and discussed with the staff member and the on-site staff member who was in charge. 240-04-01-.15 PROGRAM, LANGUAGE, AND LITERACY DEVELOPMENT. Corrective Action: TAM referral being made to address appropriate discipline. Observation: During the complaint investigation visit, LC Garner spoke with the director via phone call. LC Garner also spoke with the staff in charge. During the visit, a staff member noted that in December of 2021, she made a three year old child assist with picking up his excrement after he purposely defecated on the classroom floor. This was cited as a violation and reviewed with the director and the on site staff member who was in charge. 1240-04-01-.15 PROGRAM, LANGUAGE, AND LITERACY DEVELOPMENT. Corrective Action: TAM referral being made to address appropriate discipline techniques. Referral will also be made to assist agency with dealing appropriately with families. During the complaint investigation visit, LC Garner observed two space heaters (one in use) in the cricket classroom (three year old’s). This was cited as a violation and the rule was reviewed with the onsite staff member in charge. The violation was corrected on site by removal of the heaters. 1240-04-01-.16 PHYSICAL FACILITIES. Corrective Action: Both heaters were removed from the classroom.
