Violation
Observation: A five (5) month old infant was sleeping in a bouncy seat that had a padded cover. PE Dufresne explained to the caregiver that this was a serious Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) risk, but the caregiver just said “okay” and did not move the infant. Instead, PE Dufresne stayed in the room for approximately four minutes and finally had to tell the caregiver to get the sleeping infant out of the padded bouncy seat and into a crib. This infant was placed at serious risk of harm due to sleeping on soft bedding and not being placed in a crib. 1240-04-03-.06 SUPERVISION Corrective Action: PE Dufresne had the infant taken out of the padded bouncy seat and placed into a crib. Caregiver will receive more training on SIDS risks and the rules to help prevent it.
