3270.132(a) · If emergency medical care is needed for a child, the parent shall be contacted as soon as practical in the best interest of the child. If the parent cannot be reached, the operator shall record in writing the reason emergency care was required and the attempts made to inform the parent.
On July 1, 2025, child #1 had an incident resulting in lacerations to the face due to a fall. The child was injured at approximately 12:00 pm. The facility notified the parent following the incident at approximately 12:02 pm. The parent called back at approximately 12:24 pm informing the child care facility they were in traffic. It was during this call that the parent of child #1 requested the child care facility to call 911. The parent called the facility once more at approximately at 12:34 pm informing the child care facility that they were still stuck in traffic. As of the time of this call the child care facility still had not fulfilled the parent's request for 911 to be called. The facility did not contact emergency medical care until approximately 12:39 pm. It was reported by staff stated at the time of the incident they did not feel the child required emergency medical care. As a result of the incident there were injuries to the child's face (laceration of the lip and right eyebrow area) that required the child to receive stitches. The child care facility did not fulfill the parents request to call 911 for approximately 15 minutes.
