To verify operability, a child care center shall manually test all fire detection devices or systems at least once every thirty days and shall maintain a written record of the testing with the facility's fire drill logs. Family child care homes must have a portable fire extinguisher rated for class B fires in the kitchen and other cooking areas.
During the time of inspection, it was observed that the smoke detectors in the facility were not interconnected. The facility did not have an operable fire extinguisher rated for class B fires in the kitchen. Documentation of the alarm testing on file showed that the alarms were being tested more than 30 days apart. That alarms were tested on 10/21/23 and again on 11/21/23, which is 31 days. 1/19/24 and again on 2/19/24, which is 31 days. 3/19/24 and again on 4/19/24, which is 31 days and 5/17/24 and again on 6/17/24 which is 31 days.
