Two wooden half-doors located at the entrance to and exit from the child care space at the front of the facility were observed to have splintering edges along the top and bottom. Also in said space, a rectangular metal heating vent cover was observed to have sharp edges located on each of the four corners. Said cover was also not secured to the floor, which could cause it to easily be removed and thus creating an approximately 8" deep 12"x6" cavity in the floor. If the cover was removed, a potential for a child to step into the cavity in the floor would be created, which could cause sprain and/or fracture injuries. Two sharply edged hanging hooks were observed mounted in the large child care space to the left of the facility entrance, The aforenoted areas of concern were each located in child care spaces in areas accessible to children. Contact with sharply edged surfaces could cause laceration and/or puncture injuries.
