8.9.4.31 · B Capacity of a Home
The group day care home exceeded the allowable number of children stated on the license by either total or age as evidenced by 4. Immediate Action: Provider was in compliance with a total of 12 children when we arrived at 3:00pm. 10 minutes later (3:10pm) 2 children arrived in a school bus raising the total of children to 14. 5 minutes (3:15pm) later one parent picked up one child making the total of children go down to 13. 8 minutes later (3:23pm) 2 more children arrived in another school bus raising the number of children to 15. Provider is 3 children over capacity. Provider will call 3 parents or authorize person to come pick up 3 of the children so Provider can be in compliance with 12 children. 5 children were picked up (at 3:52 pm) to make the total number of children in the home to 10. Provider is 2 under 12 which puts her in compliance. Preventative Action: Provider will make sure in the future not to accept drop offs children if she already has the maximum number of children allowed in her Licensed Home contract which is 12. Compliance Monitoring: Provider will make checklist with her total of children allowed in her home to make sure she doesn't have more than 12 children in her home at thew same time.

The home does not have all educators certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with a pediatric component. Immediate Action: 2 out of 7 educators are not certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with a pediatric component. Provider allegues that one of the educators took the training in February 2026 and the other one will take it in April 2026. Both of the educators need to present proof of having these certifications. Preventive Action: Provider will check all her educators' files periodically to make sure all the of them have their First Aid CPR certifications up to date. The home's fire extinguisher does not have a tag with a date verifying yearly inspection. On 8/20/24 provider will contact fire extinguishers inspector to get it verified. On 8/23/24 provider will set a reminder in her calendar to contact inspector and will schedule months in advance to ensure extinguishers are maintained.
