Guidance being used by staff in the Preschool Classroom is not positive and does not include redirection and clear limits to encourage the child's ability to become self-disciplined. The center will call parents to pick up the children for misbehaving instead of redirecting the children to do something else so they can stop the behaviors from happening. On 5/2/24 the centers FOCUS consultant completed a thorough visit at the center and discussed with the Director and Educators positive ways to redirect children who have challenging behaviors. All foods prepared by the center will conform to the guidelines from United States department of agriculture’s (USDA’s) child and adult care food program (CACFP) for foods, meal patterns and serving sizes. During a follow- up visit, it was found that the center has been serving foods that do not follow CACFP. On 4/15/24 Director ensured the parents will provide both breakfast and lunch for their child going forward. On 4/15/24 Director states she has revised the whole parent handbook to ensure that all of the information about the food process is explained. Effective 4/16/24 all children will be bringing in their own food. For breakfast, if a child is not in by 9, the parent will have to ensure that the child has breakfast at home before coming to the school.

The refrigerator, freezer in the 3-5 classroom does not have a working internal thermometer. Director will place thermometers in the refrigerator and freezer and make sure that they are working at all times.

The center failed to conduct an emergency preparedness practice drills for at least once a quarter. Center will conduct an emergency preparedness drill and will do one every 3 months going forward.

8.9.4.23 · A PERSONNEL AND STAFFING REQUIREMENTS
At the center the staffing/child ratio was exceeded when the center had 1 educator with 15 children that were mixed ages between infants and 4 year olds. Center will be closed until they turn in the amended application with new acting Director and will be hiring other educators. 8.9.4.23.A.5.:Volunteers shall not be counted in the staff/child ratios or left alone with children unless they meet all requirements for an educator. Finding It was observed that the children in the centers were left alone with a volunteer who does not meet all the requirements for staff members. Corrective Action Plan Volunteers will work on getting background checks.
