8.9.4.24 · A GUIDANCE
A prohibited guidance practice was used in the 2 yr. old class room(s) as evidenced by educator lightly spanking a child. Educator left center immediately after and never returned. - Met with Lead Educators so they know to notify Caretaker Supervisor or Director immediately; do not engage educators if they are resistant and aggressive. - Meet with the staff to let them know not to confront an employee if they see them hitting a child, but to immediately notify a Lead Educator who will notify Supervisor or Director. Educators should never confront an employee if they see them lightly spanking a child. Safety training to be completed before job starts. - Introduce SBI to lead educators to support with aggressive and resistant staff. - Whole staff meeting to address lightly spanking a child; What it is and why we do not do that at our center?
