Supervision means a staff member responsible for caring for or teaching children being within sight or hearing range of an infant, toddler, or preschooler at all times so the staff member is capable of intervening to protect the health and safety of the child. For the school-age child, it means a staff member responsible for caring for or teaching children being available for assistance and care so that the child's health and safety is protected.

The center director reported via the portal that on March 14, 2024, a 2-year-old toddler named B.F was left alone outside for approximately 4 minutes. B.F was wandering in the parking lot during a busy time around 4:18 pm. Although there were staff present outside in the playground, no one noticed B.F until a stranger alerted them by yelling out. The second incident, also reported by the center director via the portal, occurred on April 9, 2024, involving a 3-year-old toddler named A.K. A.K was left alone on the enclosed playground for approximately 7 minutes. In both instances, there appeared to be a miscommunication between the two workers on duty that day, resulting in the toddlers being left unattended. Fortunately, neither child was harmed when they were found.
