Name of Operation: GOSPEL LIGHT CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Facility ID: 3459002 Consultant: KELLY HEALY Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 2/12/2024 Number Present: 34 Completed Date: 2/12/2024 Age: From 3 To 5 Total Minutes: 255 Time In: 08:15 AM Time Out: 12:30 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Announced An unannounced visit was conducted at this child care today to monitor compliance with all applicable childcare requirements. This visit was conducted with Ms. Barbara Roberts, Director. This program currently operates with a Notice of Compliance license. Restrictions include daytime care only, children less than three in rooms with direct exits. The license was posted and the restrictions were being followed. The NC Secretary of State website was reviewed on 02-12-2024. The program’s compliance history was 96% prior to today’s visit. Programs are required to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. I have observed indoor and outdoor areas today. I monitored staff/child ratios and space capacity today, as is indicated on the attached worksheet. I observed proper supervision of children. During the visit I observed children playing indoors, doing lessons, using the bathroom and eating lunch. The last annual compliance visit was conducted on 02-28-2024. The last sanitation inspection was conducted on . The last fire inspection was conducted on 09-05-2023. A fire drill was documented on 01-31-2024. A shelter in place drill was documented on 01-17-2024. An outdoor inspection was documented on 02-09-2024. I observed program records and posted items today. I observed staff and children’s records today according to DCDEE procedures. I observed the storage of hazardous items and cleaning supplies. I observed both the storage of medications and the administration of medication paperwork. This program does not provide transportation. The following violations were documented and corrected during today’s visit: Violation Number Comment Rule 526 Menus for all meals and snacks were not current or posted where easily seen by parents and cook. The menu was not posted. 10A NCAC 09 .0901(b) 812 Electrical outlets and power strips, not in use, which were located in space used by children did not have safety outlets or were not covered with safety plugs unless located behind furniture or equipment that cannot be moved by a child. One outlet was uncovered and within reach of children in space 5. 10A NCAC 09 .0604(c) Additional monitoring visits may be conducted during the year to monitor compliance with applicable childcare requirements. I provided the following Technical Assistance during today’s visit: I have told Ms. Roberts that the menu must be posted where all parents can see it. Consultation: I have given Ms. Roberts the Medical Action Form for Food Allergies. I have reviewed this visit summary with Ms. Roberts at the conclusion of the visit and a copy was given to her. This visit was conducted with Ms. Barbara Roberts, Director. This program currently operates with a Notice of Compliance. Restrictions include daytime care only, children under three in rooms with direct exits only. I cannot look up the center’s compliance history, as the Regulatory system is down. Programs are required to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least 75%. I have observed indoor and outdoor areas today. I monitored staff/child ratios and space capacity today, as is indicated on the attached worksheet. I observed proper supervision of children. During the visit, the children were napping and getting up from nap. Today, the following items were monitored: • Supervision • Capacity • CPR / First Aid • SIDS training • Criminal Background Checks • General health • Administration of medication • Storage of hazardous products • Storage of medication • General safety • General license requirements • Program records • License posted • Fire safety • Sanitation Limited monitoring of staff files was conducted in accordance with DCDEE procedures for the purpose of reviewing CPR and First Aid, EPR, SIDS training, Health and Safety trainings and Criminal Background Checks. The storage and administration of medications was monitored. Medication authorization was monitored. The storage of hazardous items was monitored. A fire drill was documented on 9/26/2023. There has been no shelter in place drill conducted this school year yet. An outdoor inspection was documented on 09/19/2023. The following violations were documented during this visit: Violation Number Comment Rule 115 A summary of the NC Child Care Law was not posted in a prominent place in the center. There is no Summary of the Law posted. G.S. 110-102 801 Written procedures were not established for pick-up and delivery of children. There is no Safe pick Up and Delivery posted. .1003(b) 1850 Signage was not posted regarding the smoking and tobacco restriction at the entrance of the center and/or in vehicles used to transport children. There is no smoke free sign posted. .0604(i) These items were corrected during the visit. Additional monitoring visits may be conducted during the year to monitor compliance with applicable childcare requirements. Today I provided Technical Assistance in the following areas: I have suggested that the center get a bulletin board to post items for parents to view when the arrive to drop off and pick up children. Parents should write their names or initials, not “mom” of “dad” on the sign in and sign out sheet. I have reviewed this visit summary with Ms. Roberts at the conclusion of the visit and a copy was given to her.
