The program currently operates with a Four-Star Child-Care License that was issued on May 17th, 2024. The last Annual Compliance Visit was conducted on May 14th, 2024. Upon arrival at home, I was greeted by the provider who was present with five children. The children were observed enjoying free play, with an assortment of toys and materials. During the visit I monitored indoor and outdoor spaces. In the home the playroom is the primary care area and includes a variety of age-appropriate toys and materials. The outdoor play area also contained a variety of toys. The provider’s license and parental information were posted on a bulletin board in the play room. The provider’s file, children’s files, outdoor inspection, and fire drill reports were reviewed. During today’s visit, a partial assessment of applicable Child Care Requirements was conducted. I reviewed newly enrolled children’s files. The last fire drill was conducted on 12/2/24. The last shelter and lock down drills were on 12/3/24. The outdoor inspection was done on 12/2/24. Three (3) violations were cited during today’s visit; the provider had a chance to ask questions to ensure staying in compliance. Violation Number Comment Rule 1306 Operator has not completed ITS-SIDS training every three years from the completion date of the previous ITS-SIDS training. The operator has not completed the ITS-SIDS training every three years. The providers ITS-SIDS training expired on 9/21/24. .1703(a)(4) 1741 Prior to enrollment of children in a Family Child Care Home, and before animals come into the Family Child Care Home, the operator did not obtain each parent's signature on a form acknowledging the type of animal located on the premises and where the animal will be kept during child care operating hours and /or the signed form was not maintained in the child's file. Prior to enrollment one child's file did not have a signed form acknowledging the type of animal located on the premises. 10 NCAC 09 .1719(b)(3) 2019 Operator did not complete Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment training within the required time frame. The recognizing and responding to suspicions of child maltreatment was last completed in 2017. The training is to be completed every five years. .1703(a)(5) The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. On or before 12-25-24, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware that any information submitted by you is considered legal documentation. Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. If it is determined the information provided in the letter is not true, this may be considered falsification of information. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit will be conducted. This documentation shall be maintained in each child's file. Renew ITS-SIDS training every three years from the completion of previous ITS-SIDS training; The health and safety training shall include the following topic areas: (1) Prevention and control of infectious diseases, including immunization; (2) Administration of medication, with standards for parental consent; (3) Prevention of and response to emergencies due to food and allergic reactions; (4) Building and physical premises safety, including identification of and protection from hazards that can cause bodily injury such as electrical hazards, bodies of water, and vehicular traffic; (5) Emergency preparedness and response planning for emergencies resulting from a natural disaster, or a man-caused event; (6) Handling and storage of hazardous materials and the appropriate disposal of biocontaminants; (7) Precautions in transporting children, if applicable; (8) Prevention of shaken baby syndrome, abusive head trauma, and child maltreatment; (9) CPR and First Aid training as required in Rule .1102(c) and (d) of this Chapter; (10) Recognizing and reporting child abuse, child neglect, and child maltreatment; and (11) Prevention of sudden infant death syndrome and use of safe sleeping practices. Complete health and safety training as part of on-going training so that every five years, all the topic areas set forth in the Paragraph of this Rule will have been covered; Program Reminders I will be reviewing your professional development plan during your annual visit.
