Today’s visit was conducted with the two (2) NC Pre-K Educators, Ms. V. Corbett and Ms. T. Singletary. A walk-through was conducted in the indoor and outdoor areas used for child care. Upon arrival the children were observed eating breakfast in the school cafeteria. For breakfast the children were served fruit cup, milk, and a choice of either French toast sticks or cereal. After eating, the children were escorted to their classroom. The teachers and children washed their hands (correctly) when they entered the classroom. They were also observed during circle time and free play activities. Positive and nurturing communication occurred as teachers interacted with children and active supervision was observed. The last day of school for children is June 3, 2025. They will be on summer break. The Visit Summary was reviewed with them at the conclusion of the visit and a computerized copy was given to them for their records. Violation Number Comment Rule 508 Special diet or food allergy information was not posted where they can be seen in food preparation and eating areas. This was not posted in the cafeteria where children eat. This was corrected during the visit when it was posted. .0901(g) The one (1) violation that was cited was corrected during the visit so, you were not required to submit a compliance letter to me. You are required to always maintain compliance with all applicable child care rules and regulations. NC GS 110-90(4)(d) requires all child care facilities to maintain a compliance history score of at least 75% for the past eighteen (18) months or during the length of time the facility has operated, whichever is less. Failure to do so may result in the issuance of a provisional license or other administrative action. Violations cited during today’s visit, may negatively affect your compliance score. As of today’s, visit your compliance history is 99% and a copy was also given to you for your records. Technical Assistance: One (1) child had a food allergy. According to the teachers the child's food allergy is noted in the computer system for the cafeteria staff so, they didn't realize it also needed to be posted. This was corrected during the visit. Posting a child's food allergy/preference is crucial in child care settings. This helps staff be aware of potential allergens, prevents accidental exposure, and allows for prompt and appropriate action in case of an allergic reaction. It also makes it readily available to all staff, helping them understand which foods to avoid and what precautions to take. A copy of SECTION .0900 - NUTRITION STANDARDS of the Child Care Requirements effective November 1, 2024, was reviewed with you and a copy was also given to you.
